State USDA Director Kenneth Corn, along with U.S. Sen. James Lankford have announced Southwest Intermediary Finance Team and Rural Enterprises Incorporated, each received a grant from USDA to allow funding for startup and expansion of independent meat processors across Oklahoma. In total $14 million in grants from USDA will be applied towards these two intermediary lenders. The purpose of these funds are to provide low interest loans to processors, so that they can strengthen capacity and increase their resilience that ultimately secures the nation’s food supply chain.
