Vici Pioneer Days Festival September 19

VICI — The Vici Chamber of Commerce is preparing for a full day of activities as the Vici Pioneer Days Festival returns Saturday, September 19, with food, shopping, entertainment and activities for all ages, followed by a special Great Western Opry Reunion that evening.

The street festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with activities planned throughout the day. This year's festival will include a BBQ Cook-Off, quilt show, tractor show, vendors, demonstrations, bounce houses, children's crafts and games and other activities.

The Chamber is currently accepting additional vendors for the festival. Vendor spaces are $30, and a variety of vendors, artisans, crafters, businesses and food vendors are welcome.

Organizers are also looking for demonstrators who can help showcase the skills and traditions associated with Oklahoma's pioneer and agricultural heritage. There is no charge for demonstrators to participate. Those interested in a vendor space or providing a demonstration should contact Brooklynn at 580-6990729.

The festival's BBQ Cook-Off will give teams an opportunity to fire up their smokers and put their barbecue skills to the test. Teams interested in participating in the competition should contact Audra at 580-938-1892 for registration information.

The BBQ taste testing event will begin at 5 p.m. at the Vici Community Building at 604 Main Street in Vici. The purchase of a taste testing plate for $15 will include a vote for the People’s Choice award. Pulled pork sandwiches will also be available for $5 each to accommodate children and guests who prefer a smaller portion.

Quilting will also be part of the Pioneer Days celebration, with the Pioneer Days Quilt Show at the First Christian Church in Vici. Quilters from Vici and surrounding communities are invited to enter their work in the show. Anyone interested in entering a quilt should contact Tonya Randall at 580-748-3214.

Antique and classic tractors will be on display during the festival, offering visitors a look back at the equipment that played an important role in the area's agricultural history. Anyone is welcome to bring their antiques for display the morning of the festival. Combined with the quilt show and demonstrations, the displays will highlight some of the skills, equipment and traditions passed down through generations in northwest Oklahoma.

Families will find plenty for younger festivalgoers as well, with bounce houses, children's crafts, face painting and games planned throughout the day.

The celebration won't end when the street festival closes. One of this year's biggest attractions will take place Saturday evening when the Great Western Opry returns to Vici for a one-night-only reunion concert.

The Great Western Opry Reunion will bring Molly Gardner, Mark Randall, Kason Oakes, Kevin Oakes, Sheldon Halderman and Russell Ladd together again for an evening of classic country, western swing and Opry favorites.

The reunion concert will be held at Jerald Shaw Auditorium at Vici Schools from 7 - 9:30 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Admission at the door is $10 for individuals, $15 for couples and free for children 12

and under.

The Opry Reunion will serve as the finale to a day centered around Vici's pioneer heritage and community traditions, while giving longtime Opry fans an opportunity to once again enjoy the performers and music they remember.

The Vici Chamber of Commerce invites residents from throughout northwest Oklahoma and the surrounding area to make plans to spend Saturday, September 19, in Vici for the 2026 Pioneer Days Festival and Great Western Opry Reunion. For general event inquiries contact Josh Boedecker at 580302-3405.
