The last day to apply for voter registration for local elections is Friday, March 12. The upcoming elections include the Board of Education, Municipal, and special election and will take place on April, 6.

In order to register, you must fill out an Oklahoma Voter Registration Application and have it postmarked no later than midnight Friday, March 12, 2021, to be eligible to vote in the upcoming elections.

According to Blaine County Election Board Secretary Brenda Rice, those who are United States citizens, residents of Oklahoma, and at least 18 years old may apply to become registered voters.

“Applications postmarked after [midnight Friday, March 12, 2021] will be accepted and processed, but not until after April 6, 2021,” Rice said.

In order to know whether your application has been successfully submitted, the County Election Board will respond to you in writing.

This response will come in the form of either a voter identification card or a letter explaining why the application for voter registration was not approved.

“Any person who has submitted a voter registration application and who has not received a response within 30 days should contact the County Election Board office,” Rice said.

Your voter identification card will include your precinct number and polling place location if and when you receive it.

Voter registration application forms can be found at the County Election Board office, most post offices, tag agencies, and public libraries in the county. Applications can also be found at www.elections.ok.gov.

If you plan to request an absentee ballot for this year's election, a temporary absentee ballot verification option enacted last year has expired.

Previously voters were able to include a copy of their valid ID in lieu of a notarized or witnessed signature on their absentee ballot due to Senate Bill 210, which was passed in the spring of last year in response to the pandemic.

Absentee ballot instructions will have been updated to reflect these changes and Rice suggests voters read over them thoroughly before placing their ballot in the mail.

“In other words, voters will submit their absentee ballots the same way they did prior to Senate Bill 210,“ Rice said. “As always, we recommend voters allow themselves plenty of time to receive, vote, and return their ballots.”

Absentee ballots can be requested online using the OK Voter Portal on the State Election Board website. Physical applications for absentee ballots can be found at the County Election Board. A list of notaries can be found on the State Election Board website
