Candidate filing for the Board of Education begins Dec.1 for Oklahoma school districts.
Anyone who intends to file for office must submit a declaration of candidacy to their county election board between Dec. 1-3. Filing packets are available on the state election board website at https://oklahoma.gov/elec tions/ candidates/ candidate- filing.html or at the election board office of the appropriate county.
Prospective candidates must also submit a voter registration verification form. Those are on the Oklahoma voter portal at https://oklahoma.gov/elec tions/ovp.html. and are also available at the county election board office. Information on the verification form must match that on the declaration of candidacy form. Those forms must be filed before Dec. 3 at 5 p.m. at the election board.
If there are more than two candidates for the same seat, a primary will be held Tuesday, Feb. 10. If one candidate receives more than 50% of the vote, that candidate will be named the elected official.
If no candidate receives more than 50% of the vote, the top two vote getters will face off on Tuesday, April 7.
If only two candidates file for the seat, they will face one another in the April general election.
Seats open in Caddo County include: Hinton Office #1, fiveyear term; Hydro-Eakly Office #1, five year term; Caddo-Kiowa Technology Center Office #1 Zone 2, five-year term.

In Blaine County, the seats coming up for election include: Canton Office #1; Geary Office #1; Okeene Office 1: and Watonga Office #1. Each is for a 5-year term.
