Watonga played host January 8-10 to the Three Rivers Basketball Tournament. The weather was perfect and the games were top notch.
Although the Eagles did not win the contest, there were wins off the court that will stand the school and community in good stead for years to come.
For example, there were more than enough volunteers and staff to take care of the myriad needs that pop up in a tournament. The food in the hospitality room was beyond compare and the concession stand stayed stocked.
On top of the school and facility living up to its fine reputation, the stores and businesses in town stayed busy as well, selling items that drive local commerce, such as fuel.
The weekend shows how much the new gym contributes to the community and what a sports tournament held here can do for the town.
The overall great impression the tournament made on our visitors won’t be forgotten when other schools are looking for a host site or looking forward to coming to Watonga to compete.
