Watonga - National Technical Honor Society Members Announced

A total of seven Watonga High School students have been announced as members for the National Technical Honor Society group at Chisholm Trail Technology Center.

Those students were:

Two-Year Members

● Tucker Estep, Senior, CRN

● Brayden Laird, Senior, CRN

New Members

● Brooklyn Osterhout, Senior, Cosmo

● Kerby Easter, Senior, Welding

● Harley Petty, Junior, HCC

● Wyatt Wear, Senior, CRN

Students who have distinguished themselves through leadership, academic scholarship, service, honesty, career development and skills workmanship are nominated to NTHS.

Those who are nominated must meet requirements for every year they are nominated.

Second year NTHS members earn a pin while first year members receive a certificate. All senior NTHS members receive a set of cords to wear at graduation.

“We are proud of our CTTC students,” Student Services Coordinator Candyce Myers said.

Geary’s Sarah Griswold Named to Abilene Christian University's Fall 2020 Dean's List

Former Geary resident Sarah Griswold was named to the Abilene Christian University Fall 2020 Dean's List. Griswold is a junior majoring in engineering.

Griswold was among more than 1,300 students named to the Fall 2020 Dean's List. Students must be registered for 12 or more credit hours and earn a GPA of 3.6 or higher to qualify.

Abilene Christian is the highest-ranking university in Texas in a 2021 U.S. News & World Report assessment of institutions highly regarded for their commitment to student success.

Nationally, ACU achieved Top 10 status in three and Top 50 in another of eight high-impact categories among 1,500 universities evaluated for the annual "America's Best Colleges" edition. No other Texas university was named in the top 10 of any category.

Calumet School Special Bond Passes

The Calumet School Special Bond Election that took place on March 2 has passed. This bond is for $2.5 mil

This bond is for $2.5 million and will have a ‘NO Projected Tax Increase’ stipulation.

The money will go towards a new ag barn, air conditioning for the gymnasium, and a locker room addition at the hitting facility.

The issue passes with 71% in favor of the bond. More than 150 residents voted with more that 100 of the votes in favor of the bond issue.

Residents of Geary living in the Canadian County precinct participated in this election.
