(TOP LEFT) Another MILLION WORDS READ by sixth grader John Luke Freyman. His teacher said “About a month ago, John Luke came to me and told me he had already reached his AR goal. With a few weeks still left before the deadline, I decided to challenge him by increasing it. John Luke asked me to set his goal at 100 points (at the time he had around 45 points). He mapped out a plan for how many pages he would need to read each day to make it happen. This was an extremely challenging goal that required a lot of dedication at home. I honestly couldn’t be more proud of him!”
Not only did John Luke reach his goal of 1,000,000 words, but he also met his goal of 100 AR points. His hard work and determination paid off.
(TOP RIGHT AND BELOW) The sixth grade ELA wrapped up Book Club.
Students worked in three groups to read, discuss, analyze, and present their books to the class. A lot of time and effort went into their final projects, and along the way they learned valuable lessons about collaboration, teamwork, and meeting academic expectations when presenting.
