Dear Editor, What Are We Doing? We, the people of the United States of America, are condoning the killing of our kids at our schools. Every time a mass shooting happens Republican lawmakers rush to the scene and publicly state how sorry they are and that they will pray for the families.

BLAINE COUNTY — Early voting begins Thursday June 23, 2022, for voters in Blaine County. Voters who will not be able to make it to the polls on Election Day, have the option of voting early at their County Election Board.

Watonga Class of 1970 Celebrates 50 years

The Watonga Eagles Class of 1970 celebrated a delayed 50th reunion (actually 52 years) on Saturday and Sunday June 11 and 12. A few members of the class of 1969, 1971 and 1972 also joined the celebration. Of 71 in the graduating class of 1970, 32 met at the convention center at the Lucky Star Casino in Watonga. Mike Knisley was the Master of Ceremonies and read two poems he has written about Watonga and Oklahoma. Bill Seitter, the Mayor of Watonga gave an update of progress at the Watonga Public School (he was formerly the superintendent) and City of Watonga. Unfortunately, 18 members of the class have already passed, and we remembered them with a moment of silence.

OSU Releases Spring 2022 Honor Rolls

STILLWATER — A total of 7,097 students were named to the 2022 spring semester honor rolls at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, including 3,173 students named to the President's Honor Roll for earning an A grade in all their courses.

Swadley’s Contract Details Unknown to OMES for More than a Year

Steven Harpe, the executive director of the Office of Management and Enterprise Services, testified Monday before the Oklahoma House’s Special Investigative Committee regarding the state’s deal with Swadley’s Foggy Bottom Kitchen. Harpe that he was unaware of the Tourism and Recreation Department’s contract details with Swadley’s until more than a year after it was signed.

We had several visitors this week. A couple from out of town came. Then a family that had recently moved to Watonga. The father came by, then left and brought back his wife and children. He is interested in being a volunteer.

Some of you may be wondering why I am spending so many lessons on Zechariah. I basically have 2 reasons: 1. It is a Bible book whose teachings are twisted by some to provide Scripture to justify what they are teaching about things yet in the future. 2. It has been a long time since I studied the book myself.
