Watonga High School teacher Amy Adams and several of her students helped host a meal of traditional Thanksgiving items prepared by Alvin Woodruff and staff of the Noble House. The attendees were veterans of the US military, including a number of the American Legion Post. After opening remarks, Jerry Burton gave the invocation. John Gates gave a stirring account of some of his service during the Vietnam era, including special duty in Cambodia. He gave high marks to the Veterans Administration for their work in helping veterans work through post-traumatic stress. Katie Ballew performed some familiar songs, and finished with a wonderful a capella rendition of our National Anthem. Burton concluded the night with a prayer of thanksgiving, heartfelt by all for this special event. (Photo provided by Joe Bryan)

An Out of Order Holiday

I don't know if I'm getting senile, losing my marbles, or just plain nuts (don't answer that) but I have the sudden, inexplicable urge to prepare a Thanksgiving feast and eat it in front of the Christmas tree. I blame it on David.
