The City of Geary held a swearing-in ceremony March 1 for incoming police officers. “It’s always a good day when we hire police officers,” said Mayor Waylan Upchego. Jonathon DeJesus was sworn in as the school resource officer for Geary schools.
Patt Ward Curtin (L) receives a lifetime achievement award plaque Feb. 29 from Watonga CIty Manager Karrie Beth Little. Curtin is known as an educator and thespian whose dedication to the LIberty Theatre and play production brought the theater group and the town to prominence and won several national awards.

Southwestern Oklahoma State University has announced the 2023 fall graduates list. A total of 423 students completed degree requirements during the fall 2023 semester and are honored in this list. Held on Friday, Dec. 15, the ceremony took place at the Pioneer Event Center on the Weatherford campus.

The Caddo County Retired Educators will hold its next meeting on Monday, March 11 at the state capitol. Members interested in going to the state capitol are encouraged to meet at 9 a.m. at the seal on the floor just past security. That day is also Retiree’s Day at the capitol.

I've embarrassed myself more than once while using a seemingly innocent word that has a new meaning to the latest generation, like my grandkids. Since I'm too old to remember what they're calling themselves these days, i.e. Gen X, Gen Z, Gen Whatever, I'll just refer them to as whippersnappers.
