Voters in Blaine County who want absentee ballots mailed to them for elections in 2024 should apply now, County Election Board Secretary Brenda Rice said today. Any registered voter may request absentee ballots for a specific election or for a full calendar year.

Lew Aytes, a sculptor and artist from California, met Friday in Watonga with the closest living descendants of Chief Henry Roman Nose. Aytes had come to gain the blessing of the Roman Nose men – Larry, Quinton and Melvin – for a proposed sculptured bust of their famous ancestor.

The Watonga City Council at its October meeting approved the purchase of park equipment for Hillcrest Park. The city had previously sent requests for proposals for the equipment, but all of the bids for the equipment were far higher than the city felt it could spend on outfitting the park.

Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company (OG&E) is lowering customer bills effective Nov. 1 when the electric company lowers the fuel charge on each customer’s monthly bill. The average residential customer will see a reduction of $20.
