USDA Urged to Provide Relief for Wheat Growers

Congressman Frank Lucas (OK-03), House Agriculture Committee Chairman Collin Peterson (MN-07), House Agriculture Committee Ranking Member Mike Conaway (TX-11), and 23 other House colleagues sent a bipartisan letter to U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Sonny Perdue requesting funds in the CARES Act be provided to wheat growers of all wheat varieties to address price impacts from COVID-19.

According to Watonga School Superintendent Mark Batt, the USDA has issued a waiver allowing all children ages 1 to 18 to eat free at the school cafeteria until Dec. 31. All students at WPS will be offered both breakfast and lunch for free until this program runs out. This means that all children can eat free, even if the family received a letter stating they did not qualify.

News reports of the Braum’s facility fire in Tuttle being caused by wet hay may have people wondering how something wet can combust, but it is all a matter of chemistry. “Strange as it may seem at first, wet hay is more likely to spontaneously catch fire than dry hay,” said Josh Bushong, Oklahoma State University Extension area agronomy specialist for western Oklahoma.

Hi Everyone! I hope you had an enjoyable Labor Day. I’m sure everyone appreciated an extra day off work. It always seemed like my extra day off was spent doing work at home. There was always laundry or extra cooking. Now that I’m retired it’s usually a leisurely day unless I need to cook for a get together. We’re just gonna leisure this year.

Does anyone make forearm sleeves made of armor or chainmail? If so, they could make a fortune selling them to the AARP crowd as long as they came equipped with some kind of cooling device. It seems like I'm hot all the dang time. And NO it's not hot flashes. I'm way past that, not that I'd admit it. And if you bring it up, I'll beat you with my cane. Just kidding. But if I had a cane, I'd beat you with it for reminding me I'm old. We start having memory lapses when we reach a certain age for good reason.
