The Geary School Board met Monday in regular session. All members were present save Jason Bernhardt. The board heard there were 16 children enrolled at the Baby Bison Ranch, where Gretchen Melvin is the director and serves as master teacher. The facility is licensed for 20 children.

The long-awaited imager, an MRI, arrived via flatbed Monday evening at Watonga Mercy. It was hoisted Tuesday onto the prepared pad and will soon be ready to recieve patients. The machine is the standard of care for diagnosis of stroke and the quick use of clot busting medicines may make a huge difference in the level of recovery achieved by the patient.

Oklahoma State University researchers are hoping to tap into the potential of a $132 million industry by exploring maple syrup production in the state. Maple syrup production in the U.S. produces 4.37 million gallons annually, but the industry currently does not exist in Oklahoma.

Schools Outline Summer Meal, Fun Programs

Watonga Public Schools has initiated its summer food program. It will run May 30-June 30 at the lobby to the basketball gym. Breakfast is from 7:308:30 a.m. and lunch is from 11:30-12;30 Monday through Thursday. Kids 18 and under are served free.
