Cowan Appointed to Cattlemen’s Board

Rodney Cowan of Watonga has been appointed to the Cattlemen’s Beef Promotion & Research Board. The CBB is responsible for guiding the national Beef Checkoff Program. Cowan runs a stocker operation in Blaine County alongside his wife Carol, and son and daughter-in-law Lance and Amy Cowan.

School Report Cards In

School report cards are out. The scores from Watonga Elementary show 60% of the students are prepared to move to the next grade, while the state scored a 49%. In academic growth, 72% of WES students are growing compared to their performance the year previous. Statewide, 60% showed growth.

The Watonga Community Cat Foundation received a grant earlier this year from the Oklahoma Initiative Fund, which is a component fund of Communities Foundation of Oklahoma. The foundation received $7,750 to go toward its trap, neuter and release work.
