Willis Bedard is a candidate for Watonga City Council Ward 4(?) He moved to Watonga about five years ago and is originally from Idaho. He is 34 years old and a Navy veteran. Bedard has worked in the oil field doing salt water disposal, insurance and now is employed by Flying W at Watonga.

The Northern Oklahoma Development Authority has created a prioritized list of what Watonga needs in order to grow and keep growing. It was paid for through a grant, so the 12page template didn’t come out of the city’s coffers. I’m sure such plans aren’t cheap.

March 2 was the deadline for all legislation filed this year to be advanced out of committee in order to stay active. The House passed 543 measures by that deadline. We are now hearing dozens of those bills each day on the House floor.

OKLAHOMA CITY – The full Senate has given approval to a measure cracking down on firearm thefts. Sen. Darrell Weaver, RMoore, is the author of Senate Bill 859. Weaver said he’s particularly concerned about the theft of firearms from vehicles.

Watonga Man Charged in Robbery

A Watonga man is in jail in Canadian County facing multiple serious charges. A probable cause affidavit from Canadian County District Court alleges Dairious Laundrell Kearney, 28, took part in a robbery of a convenience store near the interstate at Highway 281.

When requested by the Watonga Republican, the City of Geary did release the minutes of its Feb. 16 emergency meeting as required by law. During that meeting the council determined to place chief of police Cecil Harrall on paid executive leave for 30 days.
