Muncy Scholars Awarded

Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) with locations in Weatherford, Sayre and Yukon has announced that SWOSU students Katie Baker of Geary along with Corbin Parker and Jordan Valenzuela, both of Watonga, have been named the university’s 2021-22 academic year Bill & Elois Muncy Scholars.

Voter Registration Deadline Approaches

Friday, March 11, 2022, is the last day to apply for voter registration to be eligible to vote in the April 5, 2022, Board of Education General/Special, Blaine County Election Board Secretary Brenda Rice said today.

Hi everybody! I hope you are all doing well. Sounds like it’s going to be a nice week ahead, maybe with a little rain. I know we could sure use it. There’s not much news this week. It was kind of a quiet week. Sorry we had to be closed on Thursday but I just couldn’t risk someone falling.

Hinton Senior News

Our Sr. Site was closed on Wed., Thurs., and Fri. due to the cold and icy conditions. As is our policy, if the Hinton schools are closed because of weather conditions the Senior Center will also close. We should have a busy week and some catching up to do.

Happy Sleet Day

As I sit here admiring the sleet on the ground that's making our yard look like a winter wonderland, I am reminded of the wonderful fact that we no longer have to get out on this giant ice-skating rink if we don't want to. Retirement has its perks.

Watonga Holds Retirement Party After Johnson’s 27-Year Career

WATONGA – Dozens of Watonga employees and friends gathered Friday at the former Watonga City Hall auditorium to honor Jimmy Johnson, a 27-year veteran of the Watonga street department, and celebrate his retirement from the city.
The hero of the melodrama is Sheriff Jack B. Nimble (Cale Lorenz) with Sweet Sally (Calista Riley), who try to bring the villain to justice in the upcoming “The Villain Wore a Dirty Shirt.” Performances at the Watonga Community Theatre, March 6, at 2:30 and 6 p.m.

Watonga Community Theatre Returns Sunday with All-Teen Show

WATONGA – After the success of December’s “Shenanigans at the North Pole,” Watonga Community Theatre is back this weekend with two performances of “The Villain Wore a Dirty Shirt,” featuring a cast full of high-schoolers. The performances will be this Sunday, March 6, at 2:30 and 6 p.m.
