A Lamp to My Feet

Well, folks, we finally made it to March. I think I will always remember February 2021. I had total knee replacement February 9. My nephew died in the line of duty as a volunteer firefighter in Waynoka, OK. My daughter Spring is having chemo treatments for breast cancer.

Hi Everyone! I Hope your are all well and getting ready for spring. It’ll be here before you know it. Johns already planting seeds indoors to prepare for his garden he plans. We may have to open a market if his planned garden produces too much. Things were back to normal last week at the center.

Coleman Sisters Win Big at Blaine County Stock Show

Watonga’s FFA chapter had students compete in the Blaine County Stock Show last week with many of them coming out victorious. Watonga FFA had six of the nine grand and reserve grand champions last week and a total of 12 grand and reserve grand champions.

Body Recovered from River Suspected to be that of Stephen Courtney

A search and rescue organization from Oklahoma City found the body of Stephen Courtney on Saturday, Feb. 27 Ȧuthorities are waiting on official confirmation, but they believe the body was Courtney, who went missing on Feb. 13.

Ms. Shrader’s first-grade class took on a kindness project last week by cleaning up the south end Watonga Elementary playground to prepare for warmer weather. They enjoy doing class time outside and thought other classes could enjoy the patio space more as the weather warms up.

Gov. Kevin Stitt announced last week that President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. has approved his request to declare a federal disaster exists in all 77 Oklahoma counties due to the historic winter storm, clearing the way for federal aid to be directed to the state.

As of February 23, there were 420,212 confirmed cases of the Covid-19 virus in the state, up by 359 in the last 24 hours according to the Oklahoma State Department of Health. There were 24 deaths reported in the last day. This brings the death toll to 4,227.

Calumet School Bond Election

Residents of Geary living in the Canadian County precinct will go to the polls Tuesday for the March 2 Calumet School Special Bond Election. Those wanting to get their vote in early can visit the County Election Board office from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday.
