After a four-day trial, Carl Anthony Brewer, a former police officer, was found guilty on three counts of lewd or indecent acts to a child under 16.
The charges were lodged in 2022, alleging that Brewer beginning in or around January 2018, indecently groped a child between the ages of 11 and 15. Other counts charge that Brewer, 56 at the time, felt the body of another child, between 8 and 11 years old and rubbed his own private parts while leering at a then 7-year-old child while that child was asleep and continuing to rub himself when the child awakened.
Brewer was found not guilty on four other counts of lewd activities.
While the official sentencing on the offenses is scheduled for April 9, Brewer was sentenced to two 25-year terms in prison and another threeyear term. He is in custody at the Blaine County Jail.
In Oklahoma, lewd act sentences are not automatically concurrent, and in cases where there are multiple charges and/or victims, the sentences are frequently ordered to run consecutively, or one after another, meaning Brewer could face up to 53 years in prison.
Meanwhile, Christie Brewer, wife of Carl Brewer, is facing five counts of enabling child abuse, alleging that the children had told her about the abuse and she failed to notify authorities. Each count carries with it the potential for five years imprisonment and fines of up to $5,000, meaning she could face 25 years in prison and $25,000 in fines. The next court date for Christie Brewer is set for May 9. She posted bond of $150,000 in 2022.
