Blaine County 4-H members are invited to sharpen their cooking skills and teamwork abilities at the Blaine County 4-H Food Showdown, set for 4:30 p.m. April 30, at the Blaine County Fairgrounds Foley Building.
The Food Showdown is a fast-paced, hands-on culinary competition where 4-H youth work in teams of two or three to prepare a dish using ingredients provided.
Teams will have 40 minutes to plan, prepare and plate their creation while demonstrating safe food handling practices, creativity and teamwork.
Participants will be judged on food preparation, food safety, presentation and taste, giving youth an opportunity to showcase both technical skills and confidence in the kitchen. While food ingredients will be supplied, participants are responsible for bringing their own kit of supplies to cook with. Additional details on Food Showdown Supply Box requirements will be shared prior to the event.
The registration fee is $10 per team, and registration forms are due by April 17 to allow organizers time to purchase perishable food items. Fees may be submitted through local 4-H leaders or directly to the OSU Extension Office.
For more information or to obtain registration forms, families may contact Ally Fuqua at the OSU Extension Office at (580) 623-5243 or email ally.fuqua@okstate.edu.
