Canton Junior Serves as Senate Page

OKLAHOMA CITY – Canton High School Junior Harper Jones has completed a week of service as a page for Sen. Darcy Jech, RKingfisher. Jones served at the Capitol during the tenth week of the legislative session from April 6-9.

Serving as a page gives high school students a behind-thescenes look at the legislative process. Pages provide important services, including assisting in Senate committee meetings and daily sessions of the full Senate. Additionally, the pages participated in a mock legislative committee meeting and floor session called Pageville, where they presented and debated bills from the 2026 legislative session.

The group of pages met with Senate President Pro Tempore Lonnie Paxton and Democratic Leader Senator Julia Kirt, as well as Governor Stitt. The pages also toured the Oklahoma State Capitol and the Oklahoma History Center.

Senator Jech expressed his appreciation for Jones’ participation and dedication throughout the program.

“It’s always inspiring to see young leaders like Harper step into the Capitol and gain firsthand experience in the legislative process. Experiences like the page program give students a real sense of how government works, and I’m always proud to see students from our district take part,” Jech said.

Harper Jones is an active student at Canton High School, with involvement in FFA, National Honor Society, Yearbook, Media, Special Olympics, and cheerleading, in addition to serving as junior class secretary. She also attends Northwest Technology Center in Fairview. After high school, she plans to attend either Southwest Oklahoma State University or the University of Oklahoma and pursue a career in the medical field or become a history teacher.
