“Oklahoma, where the wind comes sweepin’ down the plain”. It seems words from our state song are very appropriate each day recently.
We need less wind and more rain. School graduations are completed, so we have no reason to avoid showers. Even farmers will pray for rain.
While waiting for rain, come dine with us at the Watonga Senior Citizens Center each day, except Wednesday, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
On Wednesdays, we eat from 11 a.m. to noon because Kiwanis Club meets at noon at the center.
Our menu is: Thursday, May 21 Spaghetti and Meat Sauce Friday Chicken Fried Steak Monday CLOSED for Memorial Day Tuesday Chicken Strips Wednesday Chicken Fried Steak Thursday, May 28 Chicken and Noodles Friday Roast Beef (Birthday Dinner) If you are a paid member of the Watonga Senior Citizens Center, and pay the annual dues of $15, and have a birthday in May, you will receive a FREE meal on Friday, May 29. What better way to celebrate than with a free meal! Call us any morning at 580-623-4511 before 10 for home delivery. You don’t have to receive a meal daily for home delivery unless you request it. Our meals were delivered last week by Teresa Bryan, Sharon Barnes, Brenda Stein, Janice Hood and Vernon Brickman. We thank them for helping keep our citizens fed.
Last week my article discussed Memorial Day, so this week I will discuss that on Saturday, May 23, our center will be open for Fun and Game Night from 6 -9 p.m. Bring a snack and enjoy card games, dominoes, pool and live music with the Saturday Night Gang.
Also that evening is the Watonga Former Students Association Reunion at the Watonga Eagles High School Commons Room. Any former student of WHS can attend and catch up with former classmates and friends. This event is held every other year and draws former students from all over. There is a free Meet and Greet from 2 -4 p.m. and a banquet at 6 p.m, with a fee of $20 per person. The meal is being catered by K & L BBQ. It sounds like an entertaining evening and a busy kick-off to the Memorial Day Weekend.
Have and safe week and come see us at the Watonga Senior Citizens Center!
