New Campus Rises From the Ashes

Groundbreaking for New Geary School

Afton Jameson, president of the Geary School Board, addressed the communityTuesday at the official groundbreaking for the construction of the new all-inclusive PreK-12 campus. The construction is to replace the high school which burned and house the elementary school in an up to code ADA compliant building.

Plans are for the construction to be completed for the 2027-28 school year. Here are the highlights from Jameson’s address: “On behalf of the Geary Board of Education, thank you for being here to celebrate such an exciting day for cur school! and our community.

Today is about more than just creaking ground. It is about celebrating a community that believes in its students and is willing to invest in their future.

I especially want to thank the taxpayers and voters who supported the bond that made this school possible. You placed your trust in our school, our board, and most importantly, in our students. Because of your support, we are standing here today looking at something that will serve generations of Geary students and families.

I cannot wait for everyone to walk through these doors and see what that investment has created. These new facilities give our students and staff spaces they can be proud of-spaces designed for learning, growing, creating. competing, and building memories.

One of the things I am most excited about is having all of our students together under one roof. It gives us an even stronger sense of community and reminds us that, no matter the grade, we are all Geary Bison.

This building will serve generations of students, but it is the teachers, staff. families, and students inside it who will truly make it special.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this day possible, and thank you to our community forcontinuing to believe in Geary Schools.

This is your school. This is our community. And this is an exciting new chapter for Geary Schools.

Thank you for believing in our students, thank you for investing in their future, and thank you for helping us make this day possible.”
