Statewide the candidate filing period for the June 30 election begins at 8 a.m. April 8 and concludes at 5 p.m. April 10.

Those who would run for state office must file at the State Election Board in Oklahoma City. However, in both Blaine and Caddo counties, prospective candidates must file at their county election boards, which have instituted new processes for filing in light of the corona virus limitations.

The offices open for election in each county include the county court clerk, county sheriff, county commissioner District #2 and county clerk. Each is for a four-year term. In addition, in Caddo County, the county assessor’s office will be filled by special election to complete an unexpired term.

In each county, prospective candidates must call the elections board office and either be ushered into the office one at a time, as in Blaine County, or met at the door with the appropriate paperwork, as in Caddo County.

Besides the representatives and the county officers, there will be school elections held June 30, rescheduled from the canceled April 7 elections. In Blaine County there will be elections for Watonga and Geary School boards, and Cimarron Public Schools. IN Caddo County there will be elections for Caddo Kiowa Technical Center, Carnegie Schools, Binger-Olney Schools and Anadarko Schools.
