Officer Arrested on Child Sex Exploitation Charges in Hydro

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation Internet Crimes Against Children Unit arrested the assistant chief of the Hydro police department on multiple child sexual exploitation charges.

Agents from the OSBI served a search warrant on Jan. 28 in the 600 block of N. Broadway in Hydro. As a result of the search warrant, 35-year-old Tyler Wesley Davis, who is also a Caddo County Sheriff’s Office reserve deputy, was arrested.

Davis faces multiple charges including three counts of rape in the first degree, three counts of rape by instrumentation, three counts of distribution of obscene or indecent writings/pictures, two counts of forcible sodomy and one count of violation of the Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act.

Between April and September 2020, a social media platform reported a user uploading multiple sexually explicit files of a prepubescent female. The social media platform reported the images to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. NCMEC then notified the OSBI since the Internet Provider (IP) address was traced to Oklahoma.

The OSBI ICAC investigation led to Davis, and he was arrested Thursday with out incident and booked into the Grady County Jail; his bond is yet to be set.

“The Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation contacted the Hydro Police Department on Jan. 28 in connection with a warrant to search the premises of Tyler Davis, Hydro assistant police chief,” Hydro Police Chief Dustin Carney said in a statement. “The Hydro Police Department cooperated with and provided support to the OSBI during its execution of the search warrant and investigation.”

Carney immediately placed Davis on unpaid administrative leave, he said.

Hydro Board of Trustees held a special meeting Tuesday, during which Carney recommended that Davis' employment with the Town of Hydro be terminated. Results of that meeting were not known as of press time.

The Hydro Police Department will continue to cooperate with and support the OSBI in its investigation, Carney said.
