Bobbi Allen Lake: A Legend in the Baking

Bobbi Allen Lake wears many hats: mom, teacher, and for the last few years she has also been a baker for her business Bobbi’s Cookies, Cakes, and More.

Lake’s business specializes in cakes and cookies and though she started it as a hobby, it has become a side job for her now. Though only starting her

Though only starting her Facebook in 2019, Lake has been baking for many years now.

“I started when I was a kid and it is just something I have always enjoyed,” Lake said. “I started making cakes for my own kids and it progressed into the business I have now.”

Bobbi’s Cookies, Cakes, and More got its start after her sister built her wedding venue called Boots and Chaps.

Her sister asked her if Lake could make wedding cakes for the bride and groom if the need arose, and ever since that day Bobbi’s Cookies, Cakes, and More has had a thriving career.

“I started the business because I enjoyed making cakes for my own children. I thought why not make them for others as well,” Lake said.

While Lake keeps herself busy in making and selling her baked goods, baking is in no way her full-time job.

Most of Lake’s time is spent with her kids, both her own and the students she teaches in her second grade class at Watonga Elementary.

“I have six kids of my own. They keep me busy when I am not teaching or baking,” Lake said.

Despite Lake’s time doing this, she said that she does not view herself as a professional baker.

“Every order I get is a new challenge. I am not a professional baker, this is just a fun hobby I have,” Lake said. “I love the fact that people have my baked items at their gatherings.”

Her love for it doesn’t stop there as she said that she makes herself available to anyone at any time.

“If I don’t get back to you right away, I am in a position I can’t answer the phone,” Lake said. “The best way to contact me is through the business messenger or Facebook messenger.”

Lake’s Facebook page, Bobbi’s Cookies, Cakes, and More, is filled with examples of the work she has done as well as current holiday themed goods she has for sale.

“Holidays are super busy for my business so please place those orders early if possible,” Lake said.

Lake said she averages anywhere from three to five orders a week, and if you’re interested in placing an order she needs a couple of days’ notice to make sure she has everything she needs.

While COVID has affected many businesses throughout the nation, Lake has not seen much of a negative impact.

“I was fortunate through the whole COVID outburst that I did not lose much business,” she said. “I am blessed with people who trust me.”

Details and prices for specific orders can be discussed with Lake via her Facebook page or by phone at 580-623-0115.

“I am not a professional, but I enjoy making cakes and cookies for people to enjoy!”
