Three people were injured on Sunday afternoon after a Watonga man had a medical problem while driving and collided with a motorcycle.
Earl Devon Boyd, 84, was driving a Lincoln Town Car Sunday when the wreck occurred around 2:42 p.m., officials said.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Boyd was traveling south on U.S. Highway 270, 2 miles south of Watonga. Suffering a medical issue, Boyd “made a U-turn in front of” a 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, which “attempted but was unsuccessful in avoiding a collision” with Boyd’s car.
The motorcycle hit the Lincoln on the passenger side, officials said.
Boyd was transported to Mercy Hospital in Watonga, and later transferred to the VA Hospital in Oklahoma City for health issues “unrelated to the collision.”
Two Newcastle residents were on the motorcycle: Coy Stevens, 56, and Sheryl Jones, 59. Jones was transported to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, where she was admitted in stable condition with arm and leg injuries.
Stevens was transported to the same hospital and admitted in stable condition with head, trunk, leg and arm injuries.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol was assisted in the crash investigation by the Blaine County Sheriff’s Office, Watonga Police Department, Watonga Fire Department and Watonga EMS.
