Geary Schools Hire New Staff, Coaches and Principal

GEARY – The Geary school board on Monday greenlit the hiring of several more teachers and coaches, as the district continues to fill its vacancies in advance of the 2021-22 academic year.

New Geary Superintendent Sean Buchanan was present for the meeting, in which board members also OK’d a long list of resolutions and contracts with vendors and services. The contracts included one for the cleaning of the Stegall Long Field House, and the board also approved next year’s coaching stipends and extra duty pay for district staffers.

The hires announced Monday included:

• Joy Osborne as the new Geary Elementary principal

• Kolton Shipley as ag instructor

• Chris Parkhurst as an alternative education instructor and head baseball coach

• Jaryn Meyer as Dean of Students

• And Caity Patton as an elementary aide

The board accepted the resignation of Devon Mitchell, the former Geary baseball coach. Many of the new hires were in attendance for the meeting; it was also attended by Jason and Bridget Goodknight, the new Geary head football and softball coach, respectively. Their hires were approved by the school board earlier this summer.
