Watonga Man Accused of Repeated Sexual Abuse of a Minor

WATONGA – A Watonga man was arrested earlier this month after the Blaine County Sheriff’s Office was tipped off about alleged sexual abuse of a minor over a period of years.

Christopher Oler, 46, has been charged with three counts of sexual abuse of a child under 12, two counts of first-degree rape, two counts of lewd or indecent acts to a child under age 16, and possession of a firearm after a prior felony conviction, all felonies.

According to a probable cause statement, Blaine County Sheriff’s deputies first learned about the alleged abuse on June 15. Deputies took a statement from witnesses who said Oler had been sexually abusing the same minor for years, since before puberty, and “believes that they are in a relationship.”

A sexual assault evidentiary exam revealed damage “that would indicate intercourse that had occurred pre puberty,” the statement says. That evidence was forwarded to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations.

Witnesses informed deputies that Oler had “multiple guns” in his home despite his prior felony conviction. After securing a search warrant, deputies searched Oler’s residence and discovered “multiple firearms.” Deputies also seized electronics and sex toys from the home.

As of Tuesday, Oler remains in the Blaine County Jail. His bond is set at $500,000.
