Blaine, Custer Sheriff’s Depts. Recover Stolen Property

THOMAS – The Blaine and Custer County sheriff’s departments recently worked together on a burglary case and were able to recover some stolen property that had crossed county lines.

According to a post from the Blaine County Sheriff’s Office, it learned of a burglary near Eagle City on Wednesday, Sept. 1. A Blaine County deputy learned the suspects were based in Custer County.

Deputies “jumped at the opportunity” to catch the criminals, the office wrote, because stolen property is usually sold off quickly “to support habits.” So they requested assistance from the Custer sheriff’s office.

Upon further investigation by the two departments, “the stolen items were found outside of Thomas and two of the three suspects were arrested.”

“This investigation is ongoing and has been turned over to investigators at Custer County,” the Blaine County Sheriff’s Office said. “We did recover the majority of the items and we are very thankful.”

The office will continue to assist, as several other items believed to be stolen are still outstanding.

“Theft ring busted!” the Blaine office wrote. It thanked Custer County Sheriff Dan Day “for the great working relationship” between the departments.

As of Tuesday, Sept. 7, Thomas man Matthew Grant Moore is still listed as being held in the Custer County Jail on suspicion of receiving possessing or concealing stolen property.
