To honor veterans, the American Legion will host a Veterans Day dinner. The event will take place at the Legion Hall, 306 South Noble. The public is invited, you do not have to be a veteran to attend.
Everyone who plans to attend is asked to bring a covered dish of some sort to share, whether it be vegetable, breads, side dishes or desserts. The Legion will provide meat and drinks.
The meal will be held at 6:30 Nov. 11, the annual federal holiday to celebrate the service of all U.S. military veterans. It began as Armistice Day, marking the end of WWI and was first commemorated in 1919. It was made a permanent legal holiday by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1938.
