Some residents have been wondering about the immediate steps they need to take to make a smooth transition from City of Watonga trash pickup to Veterans’ Waste Solution collections.
Most households have had the new marked black and white polycarts delivered to their home. Veterans’ takes over today, Feb. 1.
So what about the trash that a family might have already placed in the old city carts in the last week since pickup?
According to City Manager Karrie Little, that trash needs to be transferred to the new Veterans’ carts. Veterans’ she said will not pick up City of Watonga carts. As a side note, bagged trash can’t blow away during dumping, and keeps the town cleaner in the Oklahoma winds.
Households that have handicapped or elderly residents who may have difficulty getting the carts to the street – there is no alley pickup with the new service – can contact City Hall at 623-4669 and let them know they will need assistance.
