SENIOR CENTER NEWS

By Sharon Gates

Hi, everyone! It’s good to be here for you again to let you know what is going on at the senior citizens center. As far as I know everything is moving along smoothly. We are still in need of a second cook. We’re sorry to learn that Janie will be leaving us as soon as we can find a replacement. She’s done a good job cooking for us and we’ll miss her when she goes. If you know anyone with cooking experience that is looking for work, send them our way.

Last week Pat, Sharon, Brenda and Curt, Janice and Vernon delivered our meals for us. We really appreciate their help.

We received a donation from Linda and Andy Barrett and a second one from the Saturday night group. We thank them for thinking of us.

We received donations from Lonnie Rickey and Basil and Danna Taylor in memory of Gary Wills. Carol McCrary made a donation in memory of Gary Wills, Steve Coney and Roberta House. Wheeler Brothers donated in memory of Gary Wills and Kenneth Brewer. We’re very thankful for all these memorial gifts.

We are still in need of a quilt to be quilted. If you have one that needs to be quilted, give us a call. We need one! Our quilters would be glad to have one to work on.

At 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11 we’ll be meeting again for games, music and food. Come down and join us. Bring a snack to share and join the fun, you’ll be glad you did.

Here is our menu for the next few days. Come in and have lunch with us, it’s only $7 and you’ll receive a complete lunch with dessert. We start eating about 11:30 a.m. If you want a meal delivered call us before 10 so we can get it ready to be delivered. If you want to pick one up to go call us before noon and we’ll have it ready for you.

Thurs. Feb. 9 – BBQ ribs Friday – Steak fingers Monday – Chili and vegetable soup Tuesday – Breaded pork loin Wednesday – Kiwanis meets at noon, we eat at 11 a.m.

Thurs. Feb. 16 – Liver and onions Friday – Fried chicken Remember we have biscuits and gravy on Thursday mornings by donation.

At 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11 the Masons will be serving pancake and other breakfast items at the center. It’s always a good meal and goes to a good cause as they help a lot with people in the community.

I forgot to mention the exercise classes and how they are growing. There’s still room for you, though! It meets at 9 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Come and join us.

That’s all my news for this week. I hope you’re all well. Take care of yourselves. ‘Til next week …
