The Blaine County Commission hired two new dispatcher/jailers Monday at its regular meeting.
The new hires are Chevy Thompson and Brandi Brantley, both part time employees, at least for the time being. Brantley is also a transcriber.
In other business the commission passed appropriations for March as well as approved the blanket purchase orders and purchasing claims, essentially paying the bills. The county surplused and sold a grader from District #3 to Dewey County District #2 for $65,000 and accepted the reports from the health department, election board, county sheriff and clerk, treasurer, and assessor’s office. Preparing for an auction held by the Circuit Engineering District, the county authorized Brandon Shultz, Terence Sullins and Phillip Wilson to inspect and purchase equipment. That sale is slated for March 10-11 in Elk City.
The board approved a request from the Geary 522 District to pay its March subsidy to Pafford EMS, amounting to $30,000 and another from the Canton Fire Department to purchase equipment from the Okeene Fire Department at a cost of $11,000.
An agenda item to discuss the purchase of tasers by the sheriff’s office and a yearly contract for the tasers was tabled owing to the absence of the sheriff.
