SENIOR CENTER NEWS

By Sharon Gates

Hi, everybody! I hope you had a good week. Did it rain at your house Sunday? We didn’t get a drop at our house. John watched the radar and it split and went around Watonga, or so it looked like. I don’t know why we can’t get a good soaking rain in the Watonga area, we sure need one.

WE had a good turnout last Saturday night at the center. We had some family visitors join us and all together we had 23 come in. David Green supplied the music for the evening. We appreciated that. A lot of folks are dealing with allergies right now so our attendance was down some. I’ve been wearing a mask when I go outside and that seems to help.

Last Thursday there were three ladies in to work on the quilt. It was Judy Curtin, Gene Matli and Estalene Teply. They have almost finished the quilt they are working on. If you are a quilter, come in and help them. They would be so glad to see you.

The Cheyenne Quilting Guild is having a special class on Featherweight Singer sewing machines on Monday, April 17 in the afternoon. Call the center if you are interested, the cost is $50. The guild’s regular monthly meeting will be that night at 7 p.m.

On Friday, April 21, the ladies from the hospital will be in to check blood sugar and blood pressure. They will be here from about 10:30-11:30 a.m. There is no charge for this service. We really appreciate them doing this for us.

Last week Meals on Wheels were delivered by D’Von Poulson, Susan Shrader, Pat Brewer, Brenda and Curt Stein, Janice Hood and Vernon Brickman.

D’Von Poulson and Margie Smith brought in Best Choice bar codes. Margie also brought in cans to be recycled. Larry DeBaun brought us a large frozen turkey and a nice pork loin. We are very thankful for all these donations. Thanks to all of you.

Here’s our menu for the next few days. Call before 10 a.m. for a meal to be delivered. Call before noon if you want to pick one up.

Thursday April 13 – Hamburger Steaks Friday – breaded chicken breast Monday – chili and vegetable soup Tuesday – Meatloaf Wednesday – Kiwanis meets at noon, we eat at 11 a.m.

Thursday April 20 – Liver and onions Friday – Fried chicken And each Thursday morning we have biscuits and gravy, come and join us. It’s a donation.

We continue to have a good group come in for exercise on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. We average about 23 each day. Come in and join us. There is no charge for the class. WE start at 9 a.m. and are usually finished by 10 a.m.

Well, that’s all my news for this week. Take care of yourself. Stay safe.’Til next week …
