Hello, everybody! I hope you enjoyed the long weekend. It was nice weather to have a cookout. We went out to the cemetery Monday morning for the service provided by the American Legion. They always do a good job. Miranda Spurlin sang America the Beautiful and we all joined in. Rep. Mike Dobrinski was the speaker for the day. He reminded us of the reason for the special day and talked about some servicemen who have already passed. It was very good. The honor guard presented a 21-gun salute followed by Taps, also performed by Miranda Spurlin. She did a beautiful job. It was a very nice service, although I was disappointed by the number of people in attendance. I guess people get too busy to observe the service in memory of those who gave their lives for our freedom.
Saturday morning I woke to hear airplanes coming for the fly-in. Some one said they had 20 fly in and that the breakfast was really nice. I’m glad they had a good response.
Saturday night we met at the center for games and music. We had 26 people come in. We all had a great time and lots of good food and music. Playing for us were Tom Autrey and David Green. They really play well together and we all enjoyed their songs. We’ll be meeting again on June 10. Plan to come and join us.
This Friday, June 2 the Center will hold our annual Chicken Noodle Dinner and Cake Auction. We’ll start serving at 5 p.m. and the auction will begin at 6. We’ll continue serving until 7 p.m. Cost is $12 for adults and $8 for children’s plates, age 10 and under. The Masons will help us by taking the money for us. They are so good to help us with our fundraisers and finances.
Quilters last week were Estalene Teply, Gene Matli, Judy Curtin and Louise Cooper. This week I noticed they had rolled a good bit so they are making progress. Please feel free to come in and help them with this project.
Sandy Maddux brought in Best Choice bar codes. Thank you, Sandy.
Delores Trumbley donated in memory of Wayne Maddux and Danny Bond. Thank you, Delores.
Our meals were delivered by Peggy, Sharon, Brenda, Curt, Janice and Vernon, our regulars. I don’t know what we’d do without these folks and others that help occasionally. They make the meals on wheels program work.
