SENIOR CENTER NEWS

Hi, everybody! Well, it’s Monday morning and I’m enjoying listening to the rain and thunder. And the weatherman just said we’ll get more tonight before we dry out for a few days. I know the heat is coming eventually and I dread it. As long as my a/c works, I’ll be ok.

Anyway, I don’t have a lot of news to report this week. Our defensive driving class is tomorrow. I think we are expecting a big group.

Last Saturday we met for games and music. There were 26 people there. I missed because my daughter and I went to Sugar Creek Casino to see Lee Greenwood in concert. The seniors will be meeting again in a few weeks for games.

Last Thursday our regular quilters met to work on the quilt. They’re close to finished. It was Louise Cooper, Gene Matli and Judy Curtin.

This Friday the nurses from the hospital will be in to check blood pressure and sugar. They come in about 10:30 a.m. and stay about an hour. The service is free and no appointment is needed. And you don’t have to be a senior citizen or a club member. Everyone is welcome to be checked.

Susan Schrader brought in Best Choice labels and Lewis Green donated to the Center. Thank you, Susan and Lewis.

These are the folks that delivered meals on wheels for us last week; D’von Poulson, Susan Shrader, Sharon Barnes, Brenda and Curt Stein, Janice Hood and Vernon Brickman. Thanks to all of you for the gift of your time to help us with this vital program.

Here’s our menu for the next few days. Call ahead for delivery (by 10 a.m.) or pickup (by noon).

Thursday June 15 – Liver and onions Friday – Fried chicken Monday – Chili and soup Tuesday – Breaded pork loin Wednesday – Kiwanis meets at noon, we eat at 11 a.m.

Thursday June 22 – Ham and beans Friday – Ham and sweet potatoes And biscuits and gravy on Thursday mornings beginning at 8 a.m.

Well, that’s about it for this week. I hope you all have a great week ahead. Take care and stay safe. ‘Til next week …
