A report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol details a Saturday accident on Oklahoma Highway 3.
A Ford Explorer driven by Carol Ridenhour, 82, of Greenfield was eastbound on the highway when it attempted to turn onto N 2950 Road. The SUV was struck by an oncoming Kenworth truck driven by Ritchie Tate, 69, of Thomas.
The truck driver was uninjured, the report states, but both Carol Ridenhour and her passenger, John Ridenhour, 85, also of Greenfield, were pinned in the wreckage. Once extricated, each of the Ridenhours was flown to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City via air ambulance, where each was admitted with head and internal injuries. The road, which was blocked for more than three hours, was dry and the weather clear at the time of the early afternoon accident. All drivers were in an apparently normal condition and the occupants were all wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision.
