SENIOR CENTER NEWS

Hi, everybody! I hope you are all well. I was at Walmart last week and decided to take a flu shot. Apparently, it was too soon after my virus sickness as it has set me back some. I just can’t get my strength back. I’m loading up on vitamins and iron but I just can’t do much. I guess I’ll get stronger eventually.

Last week’s meals were delivered by Sharon Barnes, who went two days, Brenda and Curt Stein, Janice Hood and Vernon Brickman. Thank you to all who help us with getting those meals delivered.

Margie Smit brought in cans to be recycled. Thank you, Margie. Mary Brown renewed her membership, we’re glad to have her with us.

The quilters that net last week were Louise Cooper, Judy Curtin and Estalene Teply. Louise brought in new LED lights to put up over the quilting area. They really brightened up the quilt, so thanks a bunch, Louise.

There are several things coming up at the Senior Center. First, on Saturday, October 7, the Watonga Police Department and the Ministerial Alliance are sponsoring a lunch at 11:30 a.m. for the community. They will also be having a scavenger hunt. Everyone is welcome e to come and join in the fun and visit with your local police and ministers, it is free.

On Friday, October 13, the center is having its annual turkey and dressing fundraiser. It will be at noon instead of the evening. Please mark your calendar for this day. WE need to have a lot of people come out for this event.

The Cheese Festival will be Saturday, October 14. The Masons will be holding their breakfast at the center, beginning at 7 a.m.

We will not be meeting on the 14th for games and music, because everyone will be tired out from the festival. We’ll meet again on Saturday, October 28.

Here is our menu for the next few days. Call us before 10 a.m. if you need a meal delivered and before noon if you want to pick up a meal to go.

Thursday, October 5 – Beef pot pie Friday – Indian tacos Monday – Chili and soup Tuesday – BBQ pork sandwiches with French fries Wednesday – Kiwanis meets at noon, we eat at 11 a.m.

Thursday, October 12 Steak fingers Friday – Turkey and dressing And we still serve biscuits and gravy on Thursday beginning at 8 a.m.

I hope you are all doing well. Please take care of yourselves. I hope you have a great week. ‘Til next week …
