The new Watonga Gymnasium had a ceremonial beam signing ceremony on October 11, which marked a significant milestone in its development. The beam signing fosters a sense of pride and connection to the new facility and will serve as a lasting reminder of the community's contribution and support in creating it. Mayor Bill Seitter, Superintendent Kyle Hilterbran, Watonga Public Schools board members and students, and members of the project team from Renaissance Architecture and Joe D. Hall General Contractors were invited to sign their names and leave messages on a beam that will be placed at the front entrance of the gym.
Hilterbran greeted the audience and gave some brief remarks as well as expressing his gratitude for the support of the community. “The beam signing of our high school gym is more than just an act; it's a symbol of unity and progress for our community. When we passed the school bond, we committed to investing in our future, ensuring quality education, and fostering a sense of belonging. This beam represents our collective dedication to our students, our school, and the promise of a brighter tomorrow. Each signature here today, whether by students, parents, or community members, is a testament to our shared commitment to the growth and success of the next generation. Together, we build not just a gym but a stronger, more vibrant community. Thank you for being a part of this journey,” he said.
