SENIOR CENTER NEWS

Hi, everyone! I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. We had a wonderful day with our son and daughter and some of the grandkids. We met once again at the Senior Citizens’ Center. We had lots of good food and time to visit. Our grandson entertained us by playing the piano. He plays by ear and even makes up his own songs. John and Boone, our grandson-in-law, left about 3 p.m. to go to the woods, but had no luck, however.

Due to Thanksgiving, we were only open three days last week. Sharon Barnes delivered meals two days and one day Brenda and Curt Stein made deliveries. Thank you for doing this for us.

Johnny Reddick brought us tomatoes to share. First State Bank brought in calendars for 2024, and we can sure use those. The Cheyene Quilt Guild donated the proceeds of the quilt raffle at the Cheese Festival and we are very grateful for these donations, they mean so much!

Richard and Sandra Hightower and the Cheyenne Quilt Guild donated to the center in memory of Louis Hood. A big thanks to you all.

Terri Crawford renewed her membership with us last week. Thank you, Terri, we are glad to have you join us.

There were no quilters last week since we were closed on Thursday. Maybe they’ll get back to it this week.

Patti Becerra from McGraw Realtors will be here this week after exercise on Friday, December 1. She will be speaking about probate and estates. This is open to the public so come in around 10 a.m. to hear what she has to say.

Last Saturday night we had 24 folks brave the cold and nasty weather to come in for music and games. David Greene provided the music. He always does a great job. Two families with children came in. They brought their own games that they play at home. We all had a great time and lots of good food. We called it quits a little early so everyone could get home before the weather got too bad. We’ll meet again at 6 p.m. on December 9.

Here's our menu for the next several days. Call before 10 a.m. for a meal to be delivered and before noon if you want to pick up a meal to go.

Thursday, Nov. 30 – Chicken strips Friday, Dec. 1 – Indian tacos Monday – Taco salad Tuesday – Chicken strips Wednesday – Kiwanis meets at noon, we eat about 11 a.m.

Thursday, Dec. 7 – Sausage and sauerkraut Friday – Turkey and dressing And at 8 a.m. on Thursday we have biscuits and gravy. You can come to eat in or we can fix it to go. It’s good.

Remember there is exercise at 9 a.m. each Monday, Wednesday and Friday. They have a good time.

Also, don’t forget the Christmas Bazaar and Santa’s Village on Saturday, December 2 at the Foley Building at the fairgrounds. It’s always a fun place to go and the food they serve at the concession stand is always good. Be sure to check it out.

Well, I think that’s all my news for this week. Be sure to bundle up when you go out. Stay warm and safe. ‘Til next week
