Ferguson Features

The Friends of the Ferguson have been busy in this holiday season. First, The Friends of the Ferguson thank the administration, teachers and students of the Watonga, Geary and Hydro-Eakley schools for allowing their seniors to participate in the TB and Elva Ferguson Good Government Symposium on Statehood Day, November 16. We would like to thank the speakers including Aaron Clewell and Debbie Biehler who represented Watonga and Chisholm Trail school boards; Misty Kitson, Blaine County Assessor, Crystal Perez, county treasurer, and Allison Lafferty, district associate judge, who represented elected officials of the Blaine County Court House; Bill Seitter and Travis Bradt of the Watonga City Council; and Brenda Rice, Tammy Edsall and Tonya Nix who represented the Blaine County Election Board.

We thank State Representative Mike Dobrinski and State Senator Darcy Jech for their presentations as they represent portions of Northwest Oklahoma at the Capitol in Oklahoma City.

United States Representative Frank Lucas recorded a video presentation and his field representative, Emma Alexander gave additional information into how he “keeps his finger on the pulse” of the people through his field representatives. United States Senator James Lankford also prepared a video for the students and his field representative, Peyton Burns, encouraged the students to participate.

And special thanks to all the board members for their contributions: Mary Larson managed the contracts with our host, The Convention Center of the Watonga Lucky Star Casino; Todd Lafferty arranged the U.S. senator and representative presentations and their field representatives and hosted a small group; Connie Burcham hosted a small group of students and reported the activity in the paper Fergusons started, the Watonga Republican; and Esther Arnold served as a good hostess for the students. Special thanks to Teresa Bryan for outstanding photography.

Now we are in the holiday season. Even in the frightful weather Saturday, Roy and Janine Espy arranged some decorations at the beautiful Ferguson Mansion. Perhaps you came by for a bowl of Janine’s chili. Next Saturday, Dec. 2, is the Holiday Bazaar sponsored by the Oklahoma Health Community and Education Clubs at the Fairgrounds. The Ferguson will have a booth. We invite everyone to come by, renew their membership and vote for your favorite Christmas tree. Every dollar goes directly to support the Museum’s many educational and cultural events sponsored by the Friends of the Ferguson.
