Ready or Not, It’s Election Season

Filing began Monday for school board seats in Oklahoma.

Locally, Aaron Clewell has filed to retain his seat on the Watonga School Board, as has Jason Bernhardt in Geary. Johnny Stotts has filed for seat 4 in Hydro Eakly. Ted Nitzel and Kaslin Baros each filed for seat 4 in the Calumet school district.

That election will take place February 13. Runoffs, if necessary, will be held April 2.

Filing also began Monday for the Oklahoma Preferential Primary. The filing fee is $5,000 and voting takes place March 5. Polls are open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Special elections may also be held that day.

The primary election will be held on June 18 and the runoff, if necessary, will be held on August 27.

The general election will be held on November 5, selecting the next president.

Republicans Donald Trump, Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis and Democrat Dean Phillips filed Monday. Chris Christie, also a Republican, filed Tuesday.
