Hi, everyone! I hope you all had a fun filled New Year. Mine was quiet. John was in bed by 9 o’clock and I stayed up and watched the ball game. I love football. When the game was over I switched over to watch the Nashville countdown show. I didn’t know any of the singers so I switched to the Dick Clark countdown from New York. They actually celebrated at 11 p.m. our time so I got to bed before midnight. I heard a few local celebrations with fireworks then I dozed off. That’s my usual New Year’s Eve celebration.
Week before last was fairly quiet at the Senior Citizen’s Center. Yvonne Christensen donated to the center. Thanks, Yvonne. The Blaine County Retired Educators donated in memory of Marvin Daugherty, and Edward and Velta Quintle donated in memory of Louis Hood. Last week Eloise Espy donated to the center. We thank you all for these gifts.
Maxine Strack and Janice Hood renewed their memberships with the senior citizens group before the end of the year.. Thank you Maxine and Janice, we appreciate you.
Quilters week before last were Estalene Teply, Louise Cooper and Judy Curtin. I was really glad Louise is coming in again to quilt. She came in last week and quilted by herself.
The annual meeting of the board for the senior center was held December 29. Karen Biers was elected president, Sharon Barnes was elected vice president, and Mae Thompson was elected secretary. Board members elected were Dorene Flaming and Janice Hood. Thanks to all of you for agreeing to serve in 2024.
We’ll meet at 6 p.m. on Saturday, January 13 for games and music. Bring a dish of some kind to share with everyone.
Janie White asked that I let everyone know Darlene Thomas passed away. Darlene was Janie’s cousin.
Week before last, Sharon Barnes delivered meals on three days. Curt and Brenda Stein delivered one day and Vernon Brickman rounded out the week. Last week, Sharon, Curt and Brenda, Janice and Vernon were our drivers. We sure appreciate these folks, they are faithful volunteers.
Be sure to call us before 10 a.m. if you want a meal delivered and before noon if you want to pick up to go.
