Internet Savings Program to Close

According to the Federal Communications Commission, the Affordable Connectivity Program that provided free or low-cost internet access to eligible customers will end in April.

No new applications will be accepted after Feb. 9, 2024.

The end date is an estimate and is subject to change.

The ACP was authorized in 2021 and made $14.2 billion available for the program.

Those on the program will continue to receive the discount until the funding is exhausted. These households will then receive notifications that the program is ending, how it will effect their bill and the last date the discount will be applied to their bill.

Congress could agree to extend the funding for the program.

In order to learn more about the upcoming changes, customers can contact their internet providers or go online to fcc.gov for more information or to learn what options for low-cost internet are available.
