SENIOR CENTER NEWS

Hi, everyone! Hope you’ve had a good week. Wasn’t the snow pretty? I was hoping we’d get a little more than we did but it was pretty to watch.

I am again asking for someone to volunteer to deliver our meals on wheels on Mondays, other than the first Monday of each month. It only takes about an hour most of the time. We would sure appreciate someone stepping up to help us out. Call at 623-4511 to let us know if you are interested.

This Friday, Feb. 16, the hospital ladies will be here to check blood pressure and blood sugar, free of charge and no appointment needed. They come around 10:30 a.m. and stay about an hour. You don’t have to be a member or even a senior citizen to be checked, everyone is welcome.

There is a beautiful quilt on display here, you need to come and see it. I don’t know what the pattern is called but I call it a giant starburst. Beautiful colors but you have got to look at the quilting, it is gorgeous. It belongs to Janice Hood. Thanks to her for sharing it with us for a while.

Watonga Christian Church and Bill and Prissy Ice made donations this week and Fred and MaryAnn Teply donated in memory of Bill and Jean Seitter. Thank you for all these donations, they are appreciated.

Enriqueta Uribe, Elosie Espy and Roy and Janine Espy renewed or paid their memberships. Thanks to all of you for joining our group.

Last week Judy Curtin, Louise Cooper and Estalene Teply came in to quilt.

We had a fun time Saturday night with 26 people coming for games, music and food. Tom and David played for us, they are so good! And we also have lots of good food. We’ll meet again on Saturday February 24, so come and join us. Please bring some type of covered dish to share. We meet at 6 p.m.

Susan Schrader and D’von Poulson delivered meals last week on Monday. Others delivering were Sharon Barnes, Brenda and Curt Stein, Janice Hood and Vernon Brickman. Thanks to all of you.

Looks like lots of good meals coming up on our menu. Several days I want to get a meal. If you need a meal delivered call us before 10 a.m. and before noon if you want one to go. Here’s the menu for the next several days: Thursday, Feb. 15 – Liver and onions Friday – Fried chicken Monday – Closed for President’s Day Tuesday – Sausage and sauerkraut Wednesday – Kiwanis meets at noon, we eat at 11 a.m.

Thursday Feb. 22 – Breaded pork loin Friday – Roast beef birthday dinner for February And sausage gravy and biscuits on Thursday morning beginning at 8 a.m. Come in and eat with us or get one to go. We only ask for a donation for this meal.

As you may have noticed on the menu, we will be closed for President’s Day on February 19. No exercise that day! But they will exercise at 9 a.m. on Wednesday and Friday. You are welcome to come and join them, they always have a good time and a good group.

I guess that’s all my news for this week. I hope you all have a great week. Take care and stay safe. ‘Til next week …
