Attempt to Elude Police Ends in Crash

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Gabriel Rocha, 23, was injured in a rollover accident while fleeing from police. The accident took place about three miles west and a mile south of Canton, on the edge of Dewey County.

Rocha, the report reads, was southbound on CR 2450, chased by Blaine County deputies, when his 2013 Dodge Charger came too close to the edge of the road in a curve. The vehicle was overcorrected, left the roadway to the right, slid sideways and rolled one complete time before impacting a concrete culvert. The driver was ejected during the accident. The car came to a stop in the creek.

Rocha was taken by air ambulance to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City where he was admitted in critical condition.

He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision, the report shows.

The OHP was assisted by Blaine County Sheriff’s Office, Dewey County Sheriff’s Office, the Canton Fire Department and Air Evac.
