After a four-year-long investigation, a Geary man is in the Canadian County Jail facing multiple sexual abuse charges involving a child.
According to a probable cause affidavit from the Canadian County Court, Jonathan Clark, who was arrested July 12, is charged with violation of a protective order, five counts of lewd or indecent proposals or acts to a child and two counts of rape by instrumentation. The affidavit also lists an address in Yukon as Clark’s place of residence.
The affidavit shows that in late 2020, a DHS employee called the Oklahoma City Police Department and provided information from a 13year-old that her stepfather had been touching her inappropriately. A third address in Canadian County was given as the location of the abuse.
The child was interviewed by a forensic interviewer and talked about several incidents with her 47-year-old stepfather. The child claimed Clark gave her drinks, including vodka and wanted to touch her ‘no-no’ square, which she did not want him to do. Using drawings, the child identified her pubic area as the ‘no-no’ square.
She told the forensic interviewer that Clark had used adult sex toys on her and drew pictures of the toys. The first incident, in 2020, took place in a pool house or shed when she was 13. She described another incident when Clark called her into his room to hang out. He began watching pornography on TV while she played her game on a laptop. Clark asked her to remove her clothing and then assisted her in disrobing and used a different sex toy on her ‘no-no’ square.
There were other times both in the pool and while in Clark’s truck when the child said he touched or fondled her both under and over her clothing. He also made her touch his ‘no-no’ square and asked her to put her mouth on it.
The affidavit was issued in October 2023, and charges were filed. Clark’s bond was originally $450,000 but was later reduced to $225,000. He posted bond and was released November 13, 2023. Part of that release was a protective order that kept Clark from having contact with the reported victim and her parent.
Clark was surrendered July 12 by his bondsman and he has been bound over for a hearing on Thursday.
Under Oklahoma laws, rape by instrumentation can be prosecuted as first-degree rape and is punishable by at least five years and up to life in prison. If convicted, the defendant must serve 85% of their sentence and will also be designated as a level three sex offender and required to register as a sex offender for life.
