Allegations have surfaced that a Watonga police officer was out of line when he questioned a resident and cuffed the man.
The Oklahoma Bureau of Investigations has confirmed there is an ongoing investigation into possible misconduct and that it is working with the Watonga Police Department and the Blaine County Sheriff’s Office to determine what happened in the early hours of July 4.
It is not the policy of the OSBI to comment on ongoing investigations. This newspaper has confirmed that the officer in question does have an active certification from the Oklahoma Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training. His employment status with the City of Watonga is unchanged. He is not named in this article because he has not been criminally charged.
