SENIOR CENTER NEWS

By Brenda Stein

We want to thank our wonderful city workers who have taken care of the water leak by the Watonga Middle School this past week. We never knew how valuable a commodity running, clean water was until then! Also, a big thanks to our City of Watonga for providing bottled water and non-potable water for other purposes. We cancelled our Saturday Night Fun and Games and the Masons cancelled their breakfast Saturday morning because of the uncertainty with the water supply.

Our clever cook at the Senior Center, Dorothy Jameson, had Friday’s meal prepared ahead of time, and so we were able to serve lunch on Friday when many places were closed. Thank you, Dorothy!

Speaking of meals, here is our menu for the upcoming days: Thursday, Nov. 14 Baked Potato Friday-Fried chicken Monday - Chili and soup Tuesday- Breaded pork loin Wednesday Kiwanis meets Thursday, Nov. 21 Liver and Onions Friday , Roast Beef (Birthday Dinner) You can become a member of the Watonga Senior Citizens Center for just $15 per year. This entitles you to have a voice in any of our events and get a FREE meal in your birth month. This month the birthday dinner will be on Friday, November 22. It is usually the last Friday of the month, but this month the last Friday is the day after Thanksgiving. The center will be closed on that day, as well as the day before Thanksgiving.

We eat from 11a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays. We eat from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Wednesdays, when Kiwanis meet. We would love for you to come join us for lunch any day. You can call before 10 a.m. for home delivery.

Our home deliveries were made this week by: Susan Shrader, Connie George, Brenda Stein, Sharon Barnes, Janice Hood and Vernon Brickman. We are grateful for their service.

We want to thank Margarett Parman for the donation she made for hand-quilting the ladies of the center did on her beautiful quilt. Deloris Trumbley made a memorial donation for Judy Curtin and Randall White. Also, Eloise Espy made a donation in memory of Judy Curtin.

Janice Hood has brought in a new quilt, and it is set up in the frames for hand-quilting. The ladies plan to begin working on it this week. If you are interested in handquilting, come in around 9 a.m. on Thursday to help. Or you can come in for biscuits and gravy on Thursday from 8-10 a.m.
