SENIOR CENTER NEWS

By Brenda Stein

By now you have probably had your Christmas gathering or will soon and we hope it was a joyful time. Family and friends together are the best of the holiday season. After Christmas, do you make New Year’s Resolutions? I usually do, but do not always stick with them. Three of the most popular resolutions are: exercise more; lose weight; and get organized.

We at the Senior Citizens Center can help you with the first resolution: exercise. We have exercise classes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 - 9:45 a.m. There is no charge for these classes, and exercises are designed to include all of our body’s muscles. Come join us!

We may not be able to help you with the second resolution: lose weight. Our lunches are delicious and not low-calorie. Here are our choices for the week: Thursday, Dec. 26 Chicken strips Friday-Roast beef (Birthday Meal) Monday-Soup Tuesday-Chicken strips Wednesday, Jan. 1 CLOSED Thursday, Jan. 2 Chicken fried steak Friday-- Indian tacos We eat each day from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., except Wednesdays when we eat from 11 a.m. to noon. Call any morning by 10 a.m. for home delivery.

Our meals were delivered last week by Hailey Boden, Sharon Barnes, Curt and Brenda Stein, Janice Hood and Vernon Brickman. A big thanks to them.

We received a donation this week from Connie McBee. Volamae Marks renewed her membership.

Quilters this week were Louise Cooper, Margaret Parman and Estalene Teply.

On Saturday, December 28, we will have music and game night from 6 - 9 p.m. Come bring a snack and enjoy live music, good food and fellowship.

As to the last resolution, get organized, we can possibly help. If you are upgrading your refrigerator or freezer, please keep us in mind. Our refrigerator is not working properly and the freezer died. If you know of anyone who has items to give away (or are lowpriced), let us know.

The year 2025 in the Chinese New Year is the year of the Wood Snake. It is symbolic of wisdom, mystery, introspection and elegance. Chinese culture believes those born in a Snake year are thought to have qualities of patience, insight and keen intuition.

To all of our readers, Happy New Year from the Watonga Senior Citizens Center!
